When we began planning this trip in August, I did a fair amount of
research on the Internet. Some Costa Rica sites I found weren't
very helpful, others provided a great deal of information. Here is
a list of the best ones I found:
Costa
Rica Surfing Travel Guide -- Excellent surfing site. Has surf
spot reviews, directions and more for both coasts!
Surfing
In Costa Rica -- This gives some basic information on surfing, but
it's more an advertisement for hotels, airlines and rental cars.
It's good in that it provides rental rates. Helpful in planning
your trip.
U.S. Embassy
-- Good information about traveling in Costa Rica from an American point
of view. Some scary stuff about Dengue fever and prostitution, but
some excellent tips.
Costa Rica!
-- This is a commercial site, but it has useful stuff. Tide
charts, business opportunities, surfing and bungee jumping are just a
few of the tidbits you'll find.
Tamarindo dot com
-- A different look at this town than mine.
Hotel El Milagro -- Where to
stay in Tamarindo. Their web site has an on line reservation form.
Iguana
Surf -- This place bills itself as the largest aquatic adventure
center in Costa Rica. Don't know if that's true, but it's
certainly the largest one we saw. They've got a good selection of
long and short boards to rent, swim suits, wax, ding repair kits,
clothes and more. Basically, this is an American-style surf
shop. Plus, it's a great place to cool off in the heat of the day. |
