Review & Photos by Bill Polick

Anacapa Island hovers on the horizon as Jon Harms paddles for the small right.  Maurice Luque waits his turn, with a small group of locals around.  It's not crowded, but then there's not much surf this Saturday morning.

California Street, "C" Street as Southern Californians refer to it, is a nice right break with occasional lefts.  The break, over a rock and sand bottom, peels in from a point near the county fair grounds.

When the swell picks up, epic rides can be plentiful.  It's been a few years since I rode it on a great day...but then, I don't live in the area and usually head for Rincon to the north or Malibu to the south.

Still, C Street is a place worth checking out when you're in the area.  Locals are friendly to courteous surf safari-ists, so use your common sense.
